The Pet & Wildlife Fund’s most popular fund-raising event is the Pet Mayor Contest. Starting in 2004, the Montclair Village Association and the Montclair Veterinary Hospital joined forces to elect a Pet Mayor of Montclair. Local businesses sponsor pet candidates and provide polling places on their premises. If you fancy your pet in high office, all you need is a business sponsor that is a member of the Montclair Village Association. For more information, send Lee Richter an email message now.
May 21st – Primary funds that you have collected on your own will be due at Montclair Veterinary Hospital by 2:00PM.
May 22nd – Voting will continue from 9:00am-1:00pm at the Farmer’s Market booth and will be available online until midnight at on this website. The eight candidates that raise the most donations advance to the finals.

The Pet Mayor of Montclair serves as an ambassador of goodwill to all creatures in the community: two-legged, four-legged, furred, feathered and scaled. In addition to media attention and the chance to appear in public on behalf of the Pet & Wildlife Fund, the winning pet gets a $100 gift certificate for veterinary care at Montclair Vet Hospital along with pet food, treats and services donated by our vendors.
Several local news outlets cover the race and give sponsoring businesses positive exposure in the community. We sincerely thank each one of the TV stations, newspapers, radio stations, bloggers, and social media outlets that offer support and coverage to our Pet Mayor candidates.
Every animal is a winner in this race, but that doesn’t stop the pets, their owners and their sponsors from fighting tooth-and-nail for the top position as Pet Mayor of Montclair. All candidates are eligible to participate each year they are sponsored by a Montclair business.
